So, what does my typical work day look like? Well, I get up at 5:30 (more realistically 6 a.m.) and leave by 6:30 to arrive to work at 7:00 (ish). I am a research assistant so I spend my days calling elderly people to see if they want to be a part of a research study for caregivers. When I find people that want to be a part of the study I interview them on their experiences as a caregiver. Sometimes they come to me for the interview and other times I drive out to their house and interview them. I work with five other women who are older and one woman who is closer to my age. Everyone is very nice and supportive and we all go out for lunch to celebrate each other's birthdays.
So, I leave work at 3:00 or 3:30 (depending on if I took a lunch break that day). Then, I usually drive home and have a snack (aka green smoothie) and for this month I have joined an adult dance studio unlimited for the month. So, I usually go there a few nights out of the week for two to three classes. Last night I was in one class and I saw a woman that recognized me and said that she was my old second grade counselor from Allgood Elementary. She said that she remembered my mom as well. I just barely recognized her and am not sure about how I felt about seeing her but it was interesting for sure.
Right now I am feeling that there are things that I like about my job. I like the security of it, I like having insurance and I like the people that I work with. However, I am looking at this yoga certfiication program that starts this spring. I feel like yoga could be emotionally healing for me and I think that one day I would possibly want to open my own yoga studio. So, I am pretty sure that I will get certified coming this spring. I have a yoga instructor that was trained there and she absolutely loved it. I feel that this could possibly help me to create a more meaningful life for myself. I like helping people and being more involved. I don't think that this job I have now is all too meaningful for me. I just do it right now to make a living. Okay, well leaving for now. gbye.
