Veggie Burger and Coleslaw
Today is my 21st day at 100% raw. I am enjoying my food a lot and today I had grapefruit and bananas for breakfast. I had a spinach salad for lunch, grapefruit for a snack, guacamole and carrots for another snack. For dinner tonight I had these raw veggie burgers (zero nuts used by the way, only veggies!) and coleslaw. I have wanted to try making a raw burger because it is something that I have never done. I really do like the way these tasted. However, I wish I had some ripe avocados and some tomatoes to go on top. I am noticing some nice changes being 100% raw low on the nuts. My face is much clearer compared to when I eat a lot of nuts. Over Christmas break I was eating so many of my holiday Christmas cookies and started to break out a lot from overdoing the nuts. My hair is not oily like it usually is. I normally have to wash it everyday and I can go a day without washing it now without it being grossly too oily. I am about five pounds lighter and feel like I am at my perfect weight. Those are the biggest differences I have noticed from 100% raw. I can tell my body does function better eating this way and I think that if I continue I will only keep seeing more improvements in my body. I have a picture of myself at the bottom that was taken tonight after I took the foods pics :-).
Veering off the raw food topic today was acro yoga play day at my friend Todd's. He has converted his bedroom into a circus type studio practically with silks hanging from the ceiling and a new trapeze that he just put up this week. We go over and play, sharing and teaching each other new acro yoga moves, trapeze moves and silks. I really enjoy getting to do this every week and enjoy spending time with the great people who come to play. I was there from 12 until 5 pm, went straight to teach yoga and then home to eat and now publishing this post. On a side note I really wish these were better pictures. I prefer taking pictures during the day because the sun helps so much with the lighting to make beautiful pictures. Anyways, have a great evening everyone.
Veggie Burger Recipe:
5 carrots
1 bell pepper
1/4 onion
1 avocado
2 tbsp cumin
1 tbsp coriander
1 tbsp sea salt
1/8 cup of sesame seeds (you can leave these out if you prefer)
Directions: Combine all of these ingredients into a food processor and mix until thoroughly combined. Form them into patties and place on the dehydrator trays. Set the temperature to 115 degrees and leave them in for seven hours. Serve them on collard leaves and garnish with anything you like! Hope you like this recipe!
Girl you ROCKED these out! NICE! ANd I LOVE LOVE LOVE that there are no nuts, no beans. I frankly dont like either. I am the only blogger who doesnt really love hummus. Beans + nuts and my digestion do not hang well together :)
ReplyDeleteLove the update on the results you're getting w/ your high/all raw, nut free life!
Wow, can't wait to try this recipe. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments and I hope you get to try the recipe!! I really enjoyed it!

Yes! A no-nut raw burger! I am def. making these soon. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this burger! YUM! Congrats on staying 100% raw for so long! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement everyone! I appreciate it. Hope you do try it. I tried making the burger without the avocado but I really ended up needing it to help to hold the burger together.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe April! Woohoo 21 days!! Good job : )
ReplyDeleteThanks Girl! And today is 22 days! Right now I am really wishing that I lived in New York and could skip hop or jump over Pure Food and Wine or Quintessence.
ReplyDeleteI am getting ready to make this tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for your recipe. Today is my 4th raw day in a row. First time I've been raw more than one day.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Good for you and hope you enjoy the recipe :-).
ReplyDeleteI wanted to give you feedback ( and perhaps optional ways to make this).
ReplyDeleteI get overwhelmed with too much red pepper, so I used zucchini instead. I am wondering how mushroom would work to replace one of the ingrediants? It seems mushroom would be a great exchange.
I like your spices. My kids favorite burger spices are s & p, paprica, garlic (and onion). Next time we have patties, I 'll try their favorite spices. Any thoughts. Or haveyou tried it other ways?
I also liked your before and after photos and story. You look great before, but I see the difference in your vibrance.
I am really glad you tried these and I also appreciate your feedback:-). I think zucchini would be great in the burgers, it doesn't have as strong of a taste as the red bell pepper. I also think mushroom would be an awesome ingredient to add to this! I love dehydrated mushrooms in a recipe:-)!! As far as the spices I used the spices I would have used for my taco meat but I will have to try it with your spices. Honestly, I don't think I have ever used paprika before and am not sure how it tastes. I will have to try it! Thanks for your feedback and thanks about the before and after post :-). Have a great evening :-).
ReplyDeleteIn the "old" days I added s & p, paprika, garlic and onion powder to burgers, egg salad, & tuna salad. I should probably keep a shaker filled with the combo for seasoning my veggies patties. I have never cared for mushrooms unless they are disguised. The veggie patties are a great way for me to hide them and include them in my food plan.
