Falling off of the Wagon...and a week of juicing...
Today would have been my 55th day eating raw foods, however, I had a slip up Monday through Thursday and ate cooked vegan food each of those days. So, I am extending my 60 day raw food challenge for another four days until May 16th! I am being patient with myself because overall this is the longest time I have gone eating 100% raw foods for the most part.
I have decided that for a week, starting tomorrow I am going to just consume juices. I went to the farmers market today and bought a box of 56 grapefruit from Florida for $12 and I bought 56 organic oranges from Florida for $14. I will aim to juice eight grapefruit and eight oranges per day. I may end up adding some green juices into the mix depending on if I feel I need to. So, in total today, my grocery bill for the week was around $26. Ah, like music to my ears. I made a delicious drink tonight with my citrus, grapefruit orange juice. It is delicious!
Grapefruit Orange Juice:
4 ruby red grapefruit
4 navel oranges
Directions use a citrus juicer and juice the oranges and grapefruit, combine with ice and you have a nice cool treat for the summer! This should give you around
32 oz of juice!
* By the way I took the juice picture above. I took it for my ebook and posted it in honor of my week of juicing!
your juice sounds delicious. i know what i am having for breakfast tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteApril - You must be shopping where I am! I'm getting to the bottom of my box of 56 grapefruits, so I'm back to the farmer's market on Sunday. I'm juicefeasting right now, so they go fast. Enjoy your week of juice!
ReplyDeleteI want to visit your farmer's market! I like the sound of that grocery bill.
ReplyDeleteI love mixing orange and grapefruit juice!
ReplyDeleteYour juice looks absolutely DELICIOUS! I've been focusing on green smoothies so much I've let my juice love fall by the wayside. You've inspired me to get back on it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your juice fast. I completely understand the whole "falling off the wagon- recommitting on a bigger scale kind of thing." I support you and encourage gentleness.
ReplyDeleteWarmly,
Daphne
Lady Q, you so should have it for breakfast! I just finished drinking mine and it is so yummy!!!
ReplyDeleteCandice, I LOVE the farmers market, I don't know what I would do without them! I never shop any where else :-)!
Nikki, I was so happy with my grocery bill yesterday! I normally spend 75 - 100 bucks on food :-).
Mother, Isn't it an awesome combo! I love it! Thanks for sharing!
Voracious, glad to hear your going to be juicing more :-).
Daphne, thanks for the support :-). Yes I do try and be gentle and patient with myself but it always helps to be reminded :-).
I've been juicing lately too. I've finally gotten my husband to drink fresh juice again. He said that it "tore his stomach up", but that was before I bought organic apples. The carrot/apple juice I've made lately is smooth and creamy and he drinks tall glasses of it now. My daughter (23 months) as for juice. So after I finished juicing and gave her a cup full she said, "No, no dis not deuce" lol She's so bright, but she was so wrong and I told her no, it's better than juice and she loved it lol Thanks for the inspiration. We're all rooting for you to continue on her healthy journey

Love your blog! I just started a 30 day raw journey (day 5) and it is inspiring to find others who are doing such a marvelous job! I really envy those fruit prices girl! Here, 2 oranges for a buck is more like it! Are you in FL? I'm in Gainesville. Blessings! Tracey
