I made this refreshing treat for myself today while laying out in the sun. I have been making lots of delicious soups for lunches this week and today I made a delicious tomato soup. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it but it really hit the spot and made me so
happy!!! I am planning on making it again very soon so hopefully you will have the recipe for it by next week. This is the 10th day on my raw food challenge. To be honest I am finding it difficult this time around. Last night I fell off the wagon. I went out to eat with some good friends and ate rice, beans, tortilla chips, and salsa. It was all so good but definitely not raw. The reason I am working on being 100% raw is because when I veer off the path I easily gain weight and I like the way I feel and look when I am completely eating raw foods. I also really enjoy eating raw foods and enjoy what I eat a great deal. The foods that I have a hard time replacing are rice, potatoes, and beans. I also have a tendency to eat tortilla chips and salsa when I don't have my healthy flax crackers around to satisfy me. I am not beating myself up for falling away from my goals but just trying to be honest with you guys about the struggles I go through sometimes. My trip to Montreal is coming up in a few weeks and I am really looking forward to that! Also, my birthday is coming up next week. I am celebrating my birthday Saturday night at a roller skating rink with some friends. My dad is going to take me to a raw food restaurant as a present (Loving it Live, here in Atlanta) and I can't wait to go there, I love their food! On the night of my birthday I will be performing improv at a theatre in Atlanta and then doing an acro yoga performance during intermission. I am excited because honestly I love performing in front of people. I have certain shy tendencies at times but I do enjoy attention :-). Before going to Montreal I will be taking a short trip to Charlotte to visit my family members on my mom's side. I am excited about this because I don't get a chance to see them too often and they are a lot of fun :-). So, I have some exciting plans coming up. Wish me luck so that I can stick to my goal of Raw for 30 days :-).
Watermelon Juice:2 cups of seedless watermelonDirections: Place the watermelon in the vitamixer and mix until it liquefies. Drink and enjoy!
Watermelon juice is perfect for summer! Good luck on your 30 days raw!
ReplyDeleteI love following your thoughts and recipe ideas. I have a hard time with craving for grains. I recently did a blood test: a micronutrient analysis. Despite my healthy eating, I found I was low in glutathione and B's. I've blogged about it a little bit. I want to write some more on my blog about it. Perhaps your body is craving something and finding out what you are missing might help you. In Atlanta there must be providers to offer the test. Check out spectracell.com. I don't make any profit. I just want to provide you with information to consider.

Lisa,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouraging words!
Permission to Mother,
That does sound like a good idea. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me!!! Thanks for reading my ramblings as well!
I love watermelon juice!
ReplyDeleteInteresting comment by Permission to Mother. Unless I supplement, I get low in iron, vitamin D and B12. Even some low fat raw foodies are supplementing with B12 (durianrider).
what does "low in glutathione and B's mean", really? I subscribe to the belief that what is "normal" levels of a micronutrient for one person could be "low" or "high" in other people. Recommended daily allowances are a flawed science at best; ideally you should be listening to your body.
ReplyDeleteSorry to come off preachy, but Ayurveda is my new passion and I really think people are paying too much attention to what society tells them are proper levels of nutrients. I will expand on this topic sometime soon in my blog.
:) Rick
I haven't supplemented with raw foods but I probably should look into it at some point...thanks for the feedback and comments everyone!
ReplyDeletei keep having the same problem. for me...green smoothies and watermelon help. i also like to snack on clementine and valencia oranges... you can also try snacking on strawberries with walnuts. yum.

I agree with you. RDA's mean nothing. I did functional testing in part because I was listening to my body.
