I love making flax crackers! They are so easy to make and the flavor combinations are endless. One of the hardest things for me to give up was tortilla chips because I loved the crunch I got when eating them with guacamole or salsa. Flax crackers satisfy that for me! Last week I made some savory cheezy crackers, I didn't take a picture but they were yummy! This week I made apple, cinnamon, flax crackers. The picture here is a staple lunch I have been eating this week: Organic Greens, flax crackers and guacamole. I took some of this batch and added raisins to make a granola type of flax bar. These were great as well!
Apple Cinnamon Flax Crackers:
2 cups of flax seeds
3 cups of water
2 apples
1/2 cup of honey (more or less to taste)
dash of cinnamon (more or less to taste)
(add raisins for the granola)
Directions: Soak the flax seeds in water for 1/2 an hour to one hour. Puree the apples in a vitamixer. Combine the apples, honey and cinnamon to the flax seeds. Spread on the dehydrator tray. Set the temperature at 115 degrees and leave in there for 15 hours.
Flax crackers sound perfect to please my cravings too! I've never made sweet flax crackers. I'll have to try this recipe!
ReplyDeleteLet me know how you like it! I am getting everyone around me addicted to flax crackers :-).
ReplyDeleteI will try these, I bet the sweetness I would like. Other savory flax crackers taste bitter to my taste buds. Can't wait to try yours. Sunday project!!

Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy these! Let me know how they turn out. I also find that flax crackers can be a bit bitter so I enjoy them sweetened even when eating them with savory foods.
