Blueberry Ice Cream and Knitting!
Blueberries are in season here in Georgia and boy do I love blueberries! As a child I grew up picking blueberries in the summer time when my family vacationed in the mountains of North Carolina. Two weekends ago I picked two gallons and they are already gone! I planned on freezing a lot but I just ate them fresh. I do plan to go again so that I can freeze some for the winter months when fruit is not in season. This blueberry ice cream is simple and is something I have been making often. It will be time for me to pick some more soon so I can get my blueberry ice cream fix! The farm we pick the berries from is owned by a friend of the family. He charges us $5 when we pick our own gallon. What a great deal!
In other news, last night I went to my first knitting class! There is a community center right down the road from where I live and I have seen this sign up for free knitting classes so last night I decided to join in. The woman in charge spent two hours showing me how to do the knit stitch (English Method). I found it to be fun and meditative as the hours passed by very quickly. I hope to be able to get good enough to make scarves and hats for family members during the winter holidays. Next week she will teach me how to pearl stitch. I can't wait!
Blueberry Ice cream:
1/4 cup of blueberries
3 frozen bananas
Directions: Place the ingredients in the vitamixer and blend until you get an ice cream consistency. Enjoy!
