Review of Quintessence

Whie in New York for my three day visit I went to Quintessence one to two times everyday. It really is my favorite raw restaurant in terms of price and taste! So, my favorite things on the menu that I tried were the following: bagel with cream cheese (is the best raw bread I have ever had in my entire LIFE, it is amazzzzzzzzzzzing!), raw tacos (so wonderfullllllllllllllllll), raw corn chips with guacamole and salsa (tastes like the real thing), mini pizzette (on the appetizer, this has a burst of amazing flavors that I loved!), spinach quiche ( LOVED IT!!), banana bread (on the new breakfast menu they are offering, caramel ice cream (this was my favorite dessert), coconut cream pie, and pecan pie. Chef Dan, the owner and chef at the restaurant was there and I asked to take a picture with him, so the top picture is us standing together. Chef Dan sells a lot of his recipes online. I loved his bagel bread so much ( I mean for real this stuff is amazing!) that I bought the recipe for it online and will be able to try it tonight, still in the dehydrator now. I hope mine tastes as good as his does! The picture of the crepe at the bottom was not one of my favorite dishes, it is presented nicely and was okay but not my favorite.
While in New York I also went to Pure Food and Wine take away again and bought a large coocnut water and an oreo cookie which I really enjoyed both. I thought the oreo cookie was just as good as a regular oreo and was very impressed with it. I also went to Caravan of Dreams for the first time and got the nacho chips with guac and salsa and I enjoyed that a lot. Mexican raw food is definitely one of my favorites! I went to Adelina's which is across the street from Pure Food and Wine and bought some desserts. They have raw chocolates that range from 2 - 3 dollars for a good size piece of chocolate.
This time while I was in New York I decided I was actually going to do some sightseeing. I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and spent a few hours there and loved it. I strolled through Central Park which I LOVE. I went to the strawberry fields memorial in Central Park and listened to guys play and sing beatles songs (awesome!), rode the staten island ferry getting up and close with the statue of liberty, walked through china town, little italy, and went to see an awesome performance called Hurricane Season. Overall, I had a great time in New York and was very inspired by the raw restaurants I went to!!

  7. Never made the connection before that Raw Chef Dan on the web was the owner of Quintessence. Definitely on my list of places to visit in NYC!

Can hardly believe your summer sojourn at Kripalu has ended. Hope you give yourself some time to assimilate the whole experience. Bet it will feel good to be home!
