Egg Nog


I bought a durian this week for the first time ever. I have had durian before but just never bought one before. At the last raw potluck I went to someone brought durian and I loved it so much that I decided to buy my own :-). If you have never had durian it has a creamy custard taste but also tastes a little bit like eggs. I decided to make my own raw egg nog version and was quite pleased with how it turned out. I am not too sure how much it actually tastes like egg nog since I was never one to like egg nog very much and therefore don't remember what it tastes like. I just know it tastes delicious and would be great served at a holiday party!

Egg Nog Recipe:

1 thai coconut
1 cup of durian
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon of clove
1 tablespoon of honey
5 ice cubes

Directions: Cut open your young thai coconut. Put the coconut meat and the water into the blender. Add the durian, spices, honey and ice cubes and mix until rich and creamy! Drink and enjoy!

  2. YUM! Never thought of using durian, but I can totally see it for the creaminess! I buy it frozen at my Asian market like once every few months! Looks like I need to make the trip soon!

  3. What a clever idea! Our Asian market carries durian, but I've never had the nerve to try it. Maybe this will give me the push in the right direction that I need. =)
