To be or not to be...100% Raw...and strawberry durian pudding...

I will start out by saying today is my 31st day eating 100% raw! Yay! I had a big glass of green juice for breakfast followed by this yummy durian strawberry pudding:-). So delicious!!!
On to the topic...to be or not to be 100% raw. This is a question I have always asked myself since learning about raw food three years ago. Some raw foodies suggest that you only need to eat 75 % of your food raw for the benefits and others say they didn't see benefits until they ate 100% raw. Some blogs suggest that eating 100% raw is too restrictive and limiting and that it is okay to eat a small portion of healthy vegan food. So, what conclusion have I come to? My conclusion is that each person is different and everyone has to find out for themselves what is right for them :-). I think if you do decide you want to be 100% raw then you need to be patient with yourself, non judgemental, and loving towards your body. I personally feel that my body functions best eating 100% raw. The reason is because when I start eating cooked food, even simple healthy cooked food I gain about ten pounds more than I want to be. My face gets bloated and I break out much more often. Some people are able to eat a small portion of healthy vegan cooked food and don't have any negative side effects at all. This is not the case for me. I think if I could get away with eating a small portion of cooked vegan foods without negative side effects I probably would do it but I am much happier with my body and my body rewards me when I eat 100% raw simple foods (with very low amounts of gourmet raw). My suggestion is to experiment and see what works for your body. Each person is so different and what works for me may not work for you :-). Also, remember to love your body and to do this without judgement or criticism towards yourself:-). Good luck on this journey!

  4. You have great points April! I feel best staying 100% Raw too but the few times this past year I had cooked foods I suffered no ill affects so I would probably be okay mixing it up. I have decided to stay 100% Raw though because of my thyroid disease. That is motivation enough : ) Good job on your 31st day!!
